Are we truly celebrating the right people?

A few years ago, Davido endorsed a Ponzi scheme, and many of his fans lost money. He has also promoted betting and other ventures that cost people financially while he profited.

Almost every TikTok celebrity has, at some point, promoted a Ponzi scheme, betting platform, or other questionable ventures.

Our top songs glorify “yahoo culture,” drugs, promiscuity, and extravagance. These messages are repeated so often that they start to feel normal—and when repetition becomes constant, it shapes reality.

We celebrate those who profit off hype and moral shortcuts, while the real values of discipline, hard work, and integrity are barely highlighted. Maybe it’s time to ask ourselves: are the people we idolize truly worth our admiration—or are we just reinforcing a culture that benefits a few at the expense of many?
