FASHION BECOMES ART: MET GALA 2026’S DAZZLING NIGHT

The Met Gala 2026 was held on Monday, May 4, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The annual event served as the biggest fundraiser for the Costume Institute.

This year’s theme, “Costume Art” (dress code: “Fashion Is Art”), celebrated the new Costume Art exhibition. The show explores fashion as a form of living art, pairing garments with artworks spanning 5,000 years from the Met’s collection. It also marked the opening of the institute’s new Condé M. Nast Galleries.

Key Hosts
Co-chairs included Beyoncé (returning after 10 years), Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour (Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief). Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos served as honorary chairs and lead sponsors. Vogue played its traditional central role in organizing and covering the night.

Highlights
Celebrities turned the red carpet into a living gallery with sculptural, painterly, and avant-garde looks inspired by statues, oil paintings, and the human body. Standout appearances came from Beyoncé (with Jay-Z and Blue Ivy), Rihanna, Heidi Klum as a living statue, Emma Chamberlain, Kylie Jenner, Sabrina Carpenter, LISA, and many more.
The event reportedly raised a record $42 million. The Costume Art exhibition opens to the public on May 10, 2026.
