The trolley wheels go quiet. The surgeon never has to say 'stabilise' twice. The monitor stays silent until it is time to wake the patient up. That smoothness is not luck. It is a stack of small checks: the machine tested before the first case, drugs drawn up and labelled, the airway kit laid out in order, suction ready before skin is cut. None of it makes a good story, and all of it is the job. If you are starting out, learn to love the boring checks. The exciting part of anaesthesia is mostly what happens when they get skipped. General education, not medical advice.
