Some moments transcend the game and become permanent chapters in history. On Saturday, 7 November 2026, Nigeria's Flamingos gave us one such moment! By defeating Japan 2–1 in the final of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, Pitch 3, in Rabat, our incredible girls have become the FIRST AFRICAN NATION to win the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup! Awawu Bashiru and Oluebube Umejiaku may have supplied the historic goals, but every member of this team contributed to a triumph that belongs to an entire nation and, indeed, a continent. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the resilience behind it. From an opening-day defeat to rising above every subsequent challenge, these young women have demonstrated that setbacks need not define the destination. To the players, coaching crew and everyone who contributed to this historic campaign, THANK YOU! You have carried the Nigerian flag to the summit of world football and reminded us that greatness knows no age or gender. The Golden Eaglets gave us five world titles. Now, the Flamingos have added another historic chapter to Nigeria's U-17 legacy. Congratulations, Flamingos! Congratulations, Nigeria! Congratulations, Africa! You didn't just win a trophy. You made history, and history will remember you. 🇳🇬❤️ UP FLAMINGOS! UP NIGERIA! 🏆
