YOUTHFUL REBELLION

I don't think it should always be called "youthful rebellion." Perhaps we should call it "The Becoming Stage."

It's a stage in life when a young person is trying to understand themselves, their emotions, their identity and the world around them. They may question things, make mistakes, seek independence, become difficult to understand and sometimes struggle to control or express their emotions.

But rather than quickly labelling them rebellious, disrespectful or troublesome, we should recognise that this is a period when they need guidance, patience, understanding and support.

They are no longer little children, but they haven't fully figured out adulthood either. They are still learning who they are and who they want to become.

Of course, this doesn't mean every behaviour should be excused. They still need boundaries and accountability. But they also need people who will guide them rather than simply judge them.

Perhaps they aren't just rebelling. Perhaps they are becoming.

What do you think? Should we stop calling it youthful rebellion and start recognising it as The Becoming Stage?
