What has been our individual contribution to the development of our continent? Why, at every single opportunity to travel, do we quickly accept it? We have lost millions of our young people trying to cross the high seas to Europe, and many are languishing in prisons for attempting this journey.Don't remind me of the struggles we face here. Don't tell me we have bad roads and poor electricity supply. Don't remind me we have corrupt leaders. You think I don't know they pay us poorly over here compared to doing the same job over there? That our educational system lacks real direction, or that we love theory better than practical knowledge? You think I am not aware that we Africans depend so much on supernatural miracles to feed our families and build our economy, or that religion has replaced industrialization? I could go on and on, but it's not necessary because I know all these things.Together we can make a change. Our collective effort and like minds can revolutionize our continent. Living abroad is not bad, but nothing can be compared to living freely in your own country, being given your due respect, and being shown irreplaceable love by neighbors with whom you face the same daily struggles. As the old saying goes, "East or West, home is the best." If only we can embrace our Africanness, then all these problems I mentioned earlier can be solved. It might take time, of course, but it's a gradual process; we have to start somewhere. Those nations we run to were once like us—some people built them to look enticing and pleasantly beautiful. We can start by casting our votes in this coming election. Look critically at the portfolio of your chosen candidate before settling to vote for them. In your workplace and market arena, shun bribery and corruption, stop inflating market prices and making life more difficult for your neighbors, apply your civic responsibility as a true patriot would, respect our laws, and carry the vision of our land at heart. You can get a copy of our constitution online, study it closely, and apply it. Doing this will mean you are a full member of the movement to liberate Nigeria and Africa. Thanks for reading through. Any meaningful suggestions are highly welcome.CHIBUIKE GIDEON UMUNNAKWE02/11/2026
