I understand why there's more apathy than participation in politics

Watching the videos on Nexto Efugi's page on tiktok, made me realise how great Nigeria and Nigerians were. There was real power in our voices and when it came to something that benefited the whole country, tribe didn't matter. A lot of people fought the whites then fought our own government peacefully.

But reading and hearing more about it, the vengeance from our own government seemed even more cruel. Even when there were issues with the white men, it could be tied to our leaders and even now remembering the end SARS movement of 20 October 2020 we can see just how ruthless they can be.

It's quite understandable why there's more apathy than participation in politics.
Why people do not care about who is running any longer, why option for your PVC would seem like a waste. It's more of a feeling of helplessness and defeat.

I know that a lot of people would say "if we all have that mindset, we're just making them stronger" but even without such a mindset, it doesn't seem that hard to rig anything again. Whether it's election or the death of our youths for a peaceful protest.

They are shamelessly playing in our faces and we still have people who defend them and turn a blind eye, even as they suffer alongside the ones against them.

They don't even care to hide it again, you can hear the mockery and the disdain in their voice. I mean days ago, Akwa Ibom State governor was so insensitive as to say that if you commit suicide, you better die. Instead of finding a solution, our government is adding to the problems.

They want to drain us for everything we're worth and still use is as labourers.

We literally broke free from the slavery of colonialism only to become slaves to the same people who swore to serve and protect us.

There's no benefit here.
